The Challenge Continues

A few days ago, I started my 21 days no sugar challenge.
Honestly, the first two days were not as easy as I thought they would’ve been. As I was going through my “detox” phase, I did feel tired and irritable.

I had to change some habits and make some readjustments, from what I snack on, right up to the meals I prep myself.
It sure is a learning process that teaches the importance of thinking before I eat.

I must admit that even though I craved a cupcake here and there, I am starting to feel the benefits of choosing healthy sugars over unhealthy sugars.

There is a change in my energy levels. I have more mental clarity and better focus. My skin is looking brighter, and I am starting to lose some extra weight.

I came across this link A SIMPLE DIET (ellenwhitedefend.com)

where they talk about a simple diet, I just copied a section from the article regarding sugar, but please feel free to click on the link as it is very interesting.

“What Are Some Problems With Sugar? “Sugar clogs the system. It hinders the working of the living machine.” CDF 327 “I frequently sit down to the tables of the brethren and sisters, and see that they use a great amount of milk and sugar. These clog the system, irritate the digestive organs, and affect the brain.” CDF 331 “Some use milk and a large amount of sugar on mush, thinking that they are carrying out health reform. But the sugar and milk combined are liable to cause fermentation in the stomach, and are thus harmful.” CDF 331 “Sugar is not good for the stomach. It causes fermentation and this clouds the brain and brings peevishness into the disposition.” CDF 327 “Sweet breads and sweet cookies we seldom have on our table. The less of sweet foods that are eaten, the better; these cause disturbances in the stomach, and produce impatience and irritability in those who accustom themselves to their use.” CDF 321 “It would be much better to discard the sweet puddings, jams, and marmalade, which cause fermentation in the stomach. When these are banished from our tables, when we have sweeter stomachs, we shall have sweeter tempers, and be better enabled to live a Christian life.” ST 9-30-1887 p. 419 “Large quantities of milk and sugar eaten together are injurious. They impart impurities to the system.” CDF 330 “The less sugar introduced into the food in its preparation, the less difficulty will be experienced because of the heat of the climate.” CDF 95 “Luxurious dishes are placed before the children, – spiced foods, rich gravies, cakes, and pastries. This highly seasoned food irritates the stomach and causes a craving for still stronger stimulants.” CDF 340”
